Parkwood Youth Centre
Parkwood Youth Centre gives eight to 21-year-olds a
place to socialise and learn new skills. The centre's
professional youth workers offer information, support and advice on
a range of issues. All youth and play workers at the centre are
experienced and come from a range of backgrounds. The centre is
located in the heart of the Parkwood Estate, adjacent to Parkwood
Green and the shopping precinct.
Activities
There is an assorted programme of activities, such
as pool, table tennis and special projects, including
the Duke of
Edinburgh’s Award. Part of the centre is purpose-built for
creative art workshops and there is an IT suite, where young people
can find information and use interactive educational software.
Indoor activities, like football, basketball, badminton and
volleyball, happen in the main hall.
This centre gives young people the opportunity to explore
culinary delights from around the world, with a kitchen where they
can develop their cooking skills.
Equal opportunities
There are rules and policies that everyone needs to follow to
ensure that all people coming to the centre can enjoy the
experience equally and get the best from it.
Medway Council has an equal opportunities policy. This means
that it aims to make its services available to everybody. You can
help the council by respecting the needs and differences of all the
other people who use the centres.
Unacceptable behaviour
Persistent unacceptable behaviour can do many things. It can
upset, offend or spoil it for others. It can even put others in
danger. Therefore, the centres have a policy to help control
unacceptable behaviour and can suspend members from the
centres.
For more details about the policies, please ask staff at one of
the centres.
